Top-ranked Miami hockey wins over Bemidji State

OXFORD — Matt Tomassoni scored twice and goalie Connor Knapp had 19 saves to lead top-ranked Miami University to a 3-2 win over Bemidji State on Saturday.

The RedHawks (1-1-0), who lost the series opener 5-3 on Friday, outshot the Beavers 26-21.

Tomassoni scored at 8:06 of the first period and at 15:05 of the third. His third-period goal was short-handed and was the only goal in the period. Miami had tied it at 2-2 on Chris Wideman’s power-play goal in the second period.
