An argument between ex-roommates inside an apartment Thursday night turned violent, when one of the roommates pulled out a knife and stabbed the other person, police said.

Officers responded to the apartment complex, 290 E. John St., around 8:30 p.m., where they found the victim stabbed six to eight times, Springfield Sgt. Doug Pergram said.

Medics transported Doryen Broughton, 22, to Springfield Regional Medical Center, where he was then flown by CareFlight to Miami Valley Hospital to be treated for his injuries. Around 3:30 a.m. Friday Broughton was listed in fair condition at the hospital.

According to police, Broughton got into an argument with a roommate after Broughton was kicked out of the apartment.

Police have named a person of interest, but so far, no charges have been filed.

The case remains under investigation by the Springfield Police Department.
