The Ohio State University class that began a study last month for Enon has created a survey and scheduled a public forum next week to garner residents’ input on village life.

During a visit last week to tour Enon, the Public Involvement group of the city and regional planning class delivered an eight-question survey for residents to fill out. It asks for residents’ view of the village’s past, present and future.

The class is addressing the “Community Living” portion of the year-long Enon Strategic Plan update. ESP Chapter Two is an update of the first plan introduced in 1996. Once complete and approved, it will guide village operations through the next decade.

Copies of the survey are available at the Enon Government Center, 363 E. Main St. It’s asked to be returned by Wednesday prior to the forum at 7 p.m. Thursday at the government center.

The class has also mapped out a 10-chapter comprehensive plan to study what life is like in the village and how the village might attract younger families while maintaining its village status, according to an update letter from a student.

The plan will guide the study to investigate the following topics: water services, land use, community character, community facilities/services, mobility, economic development/downtown corridor, housing and natural environment, student Jonathan Miller wrote in an update letter sent to village/university liaison John A. Kusnierek.

Other updates included:

• The Public Involvement group will have a booth at the Apple Butter Festival.

• The Community Identity group is drafting village logos and branding.

• The Funding Group created a working list of funds and incentives the village might employ and are exploring grant options and ideas for a farmer’s market.

• The Strategic Plan has finished a draft of the comprehensive plan’s introduction.

• OSU students plan to visit Greenon High School next week.
