Staff Report

Grammy-award winning musician John Legend, a Springfield native, will be in Dayton today to seek votes for President Barack Obama in the upcoming election.

Legend will be visiting a barber shop and beauty salon to meet volunteers and help to register voters, according to a release from Obama’s camp.

He will also visit Cincinnati to open a new Obama for America-Ohio campaign office at 1130 Main St. in Over-The-Rhine.

Legend has been awarded nine Grammys and was named one of Time magazine’s 100 most influential people. He says he supports Obama because of his efforts regarding the American auto industry, according to the release.

Legend is the son of an auto manufacturing plant worker, the release said.
