VANDALIA —

The Ohio Department of Transportation has opened all westbound lanes of Interstate 70 after a semitrailer crashed and spilled ink Monday.

However, the westbound ramp to I-70 from the Dayton International Airport Access Road will remain closed several more hours while they continue to clean up the ink.

Earlier today, the semitrailer was turned upright.

The long cleanup has caused traffic delays on I-70 for more than a day. The white, wax-able ink has been problematic. The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency spent the day securing a necessary piece of equipment to continue its cleanup.

Officials have not said if the paint on the road could affect vehicles that may drive through it when the lanes reopen, but they are working to decide if that will be an issue.

Cleanup has included shoveling and power-washing the ink.

Officials said Monday that the ink that spilled from the vehicle was being hauled in 12 large containers that shifted and caused the vehicle to overturn.

The 28-year-old driver, who is from Texas, was able to exit the cab. The driver was not injured and was cited for having an unsecured load.
