Staff Report

BATH TWP., Greene County — The cause of a two-vehicle accident that occurred at the intersection of West Enon Road and Fairfield Yellow Springs Road is still unknown.

The accident happened at approximately 8:30 a.m. Thursday, according to Lt. Marty Fellure, of the Xenia Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

The drivers involved in the accident have been identified as Dan Dixon, 48 of Yellow Springs and Andrea Whitley, 39, of Fairborn. Both remained in Miami Valley Hospital Friday morning. Dixon is listed in fair condition while Whitley is listed in serious.

A preliminary investigation suggests that Dixon was driving a 2007 Toyota Corolla west on on Fairfield Yellow Springs Road while Whitley was driving a 1995 Chevrolet Blazer south on W. Enon Road. Whitley appears to have failed to yield for the stop sign at the intersection and was struck by the Corolla.

The Blazer then went off the left side of the roadway into a ditch, ejecting Whitley.

The Corolla also traveled off the left side of the roadway into the ditch. Dixon had to be freed by mechanical means by the Fairborn Fire crews.

Whitley was transported to the hospital via CareFlight while Dixon was transported by ambulance.

The accident happened a few miles west of Yellow Springs.

It is unclear if any of the drivers were wearing seat belts.

The crash remains under investigation.
