A 27-year-old civilian defense contractor from Fairborn was critically injured after an incident in Afghanistan, according to her employer.
Christina S. Maddock, a field support representative for Colorado-based Intelligent Software Solutions, was transported to Landstuhl Regional Medical Center, a U.S. military hospital in Germany, for treatment of her wounds, according to Melissa Burkett, a company spokeswoman.
“She is at a medical center in Germany and her family has been notified and is with her,” Burkett said.
The company could not immediately provide additional details Friday about the circumstances of what occurred or the extent of Maddock’s injuries.
The Department of Defense referred questions to Maddock’s employer.
The 2003 Fairborn High School graduate started with the information technology company in November. She was serving a year-long deployment that began in mid-January, according to Kevin Moffat, Intelligent Software Solutions vice president of the global enterprise solutions division.
Maddock is a second lieutenant in the Ohio Air National Guard with the 123rd Air Control Squadron in Blue Ash, near Cincinnati, according to Capt. Nicole Ashcroft, an Ohio National Guard spokesman in Columbus.
Maddock worked her way through college and earned a commission as an officer, said Maj. Tony Rulli, a senior aerospace instructor with Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps at Fairborn High School.
As a cadet, she had a “motivated, pull yourself up by your bootstraps” attitude, Rulli said.
Maddock joined the unit as a high school freshman and stayed all four years through high school.
“She always seemed to have an interest in it,” Rulli said. “She was a good kid. She really was. She was solid. Always helping, always volunteering.”
