MIAMI VALLEY —
Expect some showers later this week as the area will remain locked in a spell of chilly weather that will keep temperatures hovering in the high 50s and low 60s.
Because the north and west Miami Valley generally were a touch colder Monday morning, the National Weather Service has deemed the growing season over in those areas, Storm Center 7 Chief Meteorologist Jamie Simpson said.
When that occurs, the weather service no longer issues frost advisories or freeze warnings, as there is really no longer a reason to be concerned with the potential loss of plants or flowers.
That said, a frost advisory remains in effect overnight for counties where the growing season is still in session — Montgomery, Greene, Butler, Warren and Clinton.
It won’t be as cold Thursday morning — most will wake up to temperatures in the mid 30s — but expect some temps in the low 30s and some frost again everywhere, Simpson said.
Tuesday will end up a bit warmer in the afternoon, with lows in the 60s, thanks to more sun and a light southwest breeze.
A weak cold front will move through early Wednesday, bringing showers for the morning commute. The area likely will be back in sunshine by noon, but there will be cooler air behind that front with afternoon highs in the mid 50s.
Clear skies and light winds will mean another cold night Wednesday and likely another frosty start Thursday.
For Friday, another weak cold front will come through early, and just like Wednesday there will be showers to start the day and sunshine by lunchtime.
Don’t expect another warm up until Saturday, when the highs will be near 70 and possible scattered showers. A better chance for everyone to receive showers comes Sunday.
