TROY — A $500,000 bond has been set for a Beavercreek man accused of raping a 10-year-old boy whose adopted father allegedly set up the sexual encounter.

Jason M. Zwick, 29, of 3620 Sequoia Dr., was arraigned in Miami County Municipal Court on Wednesday morning. He was represented by his attorney, Joseph Stadnicar.

A preliminary hearing has been set for 1 p.m. on March 7 in front of Judge Mel Kemmer.

An arrest warrant was issued for Zwick as a result of an Ohio Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force investigation involving Kenneth H. Brandt, 39, of 1045 Nutmeg Square North. The state task force contacted Troy Police after one of its undercover detectives had an online chat with Brandt, who allegedly made arrangements with the detective to exchange 10-year-old boys for sex.

The undercover detective also allegedly had online chats with two other individuals who told the detective that they had sex with Brandt’s 10-year-old son.

Brandt had adopted three children and was in the process of adopting a fourth child at the time of his Friday arrest by Troy police. The children, including a female child, are ages 12, 10 and two are 9-years-old. All are believed to have been adopted out of Texas.

When police made contact with Brandt and his adopted children, they learned that Brandt had sexually abused the three boys and that at least one of the children had been sexually abused by two other men. Those men were identified as Zwick and Patrick Rieder, 31, of Dayton. Rieder is being held in the Montgomery County Jail, pending the formal filing of a rape charge.

Brandt has been charged with three counts of rape and one count of felonious compelling prostitution and is in the Miami County Jail in lieu of a $800,000 bond.
