Freeze warning remains in effect

MIAMI VALLEY —

Early evening clouds will clear out and winds will lessen and sets up the Miami Valley for another cold night with more widespread frost Thursday morning, said Storm Center 7 Chief Meteorologist Jamie Simpson.

A freeze warning is in effect for Montgomery, Greene, Butler, Warren, and Clinton counties from midnight to 10 a.m.

Freeze warnings and frost advisories will no longer be issued now that the National Weather service has deemed the growing season over for counties in the Miami Valley that are north and west of the warning and frost advisories, said Simpson.

Temperatures will be dropping to around 32 for most of the WHIO-TV viewing area, but there will be some spots in the upper 20s. The southern viewing area may be a bit colder than the north as winds will become calm sooner across the south, Simpson said.

Skies will be sunny all day Thursday, and temperatures will reach 60 in the afternoon. The chance for showers has been taken out of the forecast for Friday morning. Clouds will keep temperatures in the Miami Valley from dropping too far, but they will dip into the low 40s, he said.

Friday will feature clouds that will give way to some afternoon sun and highs in the upper 50s, with decent football weather in the evening. Temperatures will be in the lower 50s with mainly clear skies and no rain.

Simpson said the weekend will be warmer. Temperatures on Saturday will reach the low 70s, but it will be breezy in the afternoon. Sunday, probably by midday, the high will reach above 70. A cold front will bring showers and lower temperatures into the 60s by the afternoon.
