Man in pickup hits empty Champaign Co. house

NORTH LEWISBURG, Champaign County —

A 59-year-old Cable man was seriously injured Monday when his pickup truck went off Ohio 245 and hit a vacant house.

James Culp was headed west in a 1998 Ford Ranger when for unknown reason he drove off the north side of the road at about 4:17 p.m. and struck the residence at 6716 Ohio 245 near Cox Road, according to the Champaign County Sheriff’s Office.

A medical helicopter was dispatched and transported Culp to the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center.

Deputies said the house was vacant and no one else was injured, but the accident remains under investigation.
