YELLOW SPRINGS —

Republican vice presidential nominee Paul Ryan will stop by Young’s Jersey Dairy in Yellow Springs on Saturday. Follow the visit with us.

The visit is part of a bus tour across Ohio. Ryan will have a “Victory Event” later Saturday at East Clinton High School in Sabina in Clinton County.

The Sabina event is at East Clinton High School, 174 Larrick Road, about 30 miles southeast of Young’s. The doors for the event open at 5 p.m. and the event starts at 7:30.

“Early in the week we had a call and asked if we were interested in a Ryan visit, and we said, ‘Of course,’” said Young’s Dairy owner Ben Young.

The doors at the dairy store open at 2 p.m. Saturday. Ryan is expected to be there at 4 p.m. or after.

Tickets are not required because it is not a rally event. Young’s Jersey Dairy is located at 6880 Springfield Xenia Road.

“It’s a little hectic around here,” said Young.“But we enjoy hectic.”

Past political visitors to Young’s Dairy include a parade of Republican stars: 2008 presidential nominee John McCain, the wife of 1996 nominee Elizabeth Dole, former Ohio governor and senator George Voinovich and former Sen. Mike DeWine.

“We think it’s a nice time for families to be able to get together and see the candidates and learn about the issues.”

Young said there are a lot of other activities going on Saturday at Young’s including a Pick your own Pumpkin event, Punkin’ Chunkin’ to raise money for STEM schools, and the annual cornfield maze.

“We don’t need to add staff, because we’re already staffed for a big day,” said Young. With “some pretty top level security guys” around, he said, “we just try to do what we’re told and stay out of the way.”

The four major presidential and vice presidential candidates have held more than 60 events in Ohio this election cycle and more are coming.

On Sunday, Ryan is campaigning in Celina and Marion. President Barack Obama and former President Bill Clinton will make their first joint appearance in the state Sunday in Youngstown.
