Three people were seriously injured after an early Saturday morning accident at West Johnny Lytle Avenue and South Center Street in Springfield.

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio —

Five people were hurt, three seriously, in a two-car crash on West Johnny Lytle Avenue and South Center Street early Saturday morning.

Police said they believe an eastbound car on Johnny Lytle ran the stop sign at South Center Street. They said the eastbound car then hit a northbound car on Center Street, causing the eastbound car spin around, and end up on a hill, where it barely missed hitting a house, according to investigators.

The father of one of the victims told News Center 7 that he believed the eastbound car may have been speeding.

All of the patients were taken to Springfield Regional Medical Center. The names of the victims have not yet been released, police said.

Careflight in Urbana was placed on standby, but was not called in.

Springfield police continue their investigation.
