Man struck with rock, robbed of clothes

A 21-year-old Springfield man told police he was trying to avoid a confrontation with a man he’s had problems with when the man allegedly threw a rock at him and stole clothing items he dropped during the confrontation.

The incident began about 4:30 p.m. Tuesday at a store on South Wittenberg Avenue and continued to the 500 block of South Wittenberg, where the attacker struck the victim in the face, causing a severe cut and loss of teeth, according to the Springfield police report.

The suspect picked up a sweatshirt and toboggan hat the victim dropped and fled the scene, according to the report.

The victim was transported to Springfield Regional Medical Center for treatment. A warrant was requested for the attacker’s arrest. STAFF REPORT

Man jailed on domestic assault charges

Justin D. Glodek, 28, of 1604 Parkridge Drive, was placed in Clark County Jail on domestic violence and assault charges early Wednesday morning.

According to a Springfield police report, Glodek threw a 32-year-old woman he knows down onto a bed in a hotel room in the first block of West Leffel Lane, then hit her repeatedly in the head and body, causing visible injury.

She was transported to Springfield Regional Medical Center for treatment. Glodek was located in the motel room and taken into custody. STAFF REPORT

SOUTH VIENNA

Trucker ordered in for theft of diesel

A commercial trucker was ordered into court on a theft charge Tuesday morning.

Christopher B. Eby, 53, of Unionville Center, Ohio, is accused of driving off in his rig about 8 a.m. after pumping $900 worth of diesel fuel at Fuel Mart, 404 N. Urbana Lisbon Road, according to a Clark County sheriff’s report.

Eby’s rig was stopped by Huber Heights police at the Interstate 70 and 75 interchange.

He told deputies the line at the fuel station was long and he didn’t want to be late to his drop-off and that he intended to return to the business at a later date to pay. STAFF REPORT

THEFTS

• A designer purse, cash and miscellaneous credit and identification cards, valued at more than $500, were stolen between early Tuesday evening during a vehicle break-in in the 1700 block of North Bechtle Avenue, Springfield.

• A vehicle hood, valued at $500, was reported stolen between 6 p.m. Tuesday and 11:50 a.m. from a vehicle in the 1700 block of Hillside Avenue, Springfield.

• A game console, games, cigarettes, change and a pair of women’s leather gloves, valued at $1,470, were reported stolen between 8:30 p.m. Monday and 6:15 a.m. Tuesday from an unlocked vehicle in the 1500 block of West Sparrow Road, Green Twp.

• A box of car parts, valued at nearly $730, was purchased online using an 82-year-old Bethel Twp. woman’s credit card without her authorization, according a sheriff’s report. The online company told the victim’s son the package was sent to a home in the 1200 block of Grissom Avenue, about a block way from the victim’s home. Deputies spoke with a woman at that address and advised her that she may have signed up for a scam job and that she was in possession of stolen property. The box, the invoice and copies of her application to the job were collected as evidence. STAFF REPORTS
