Twins pinned under TV, dresser
Eighteen-month-old boy and girl twins were taken by CareFlight to Children’s Medical Center Monday after a dresser and television fell on them.
According to German Twp. Fire Chief Tim Holman, the twins were climbing on a chest of drawers when they pulled a 32-inch tube television and the dresser down on top of them. The incident happened in an apartment unit in the 2100 block of Troy Road around 10:30 a.m.
Emergency crews were unsure how long the children were pinned, so CareFlight was requested as a precaution, Holman said. The children’s injuries were not considered to be life-threatening.
The boy suffered injuries to his abdomen, and the girl suffered a laceration to her head, he said.
The mom was home at the time of the incident, and a neighbor was able to assist her with getting the furniture off the children. No charges are expected.
Man charged with child endangering
Marcus R. Cross, 27, of 373 Sherman Ave., was placed in Clark County Jail on several charges stemming from an alleged domestic assault early Sunday morning.
According to a Springfield police report, Cross punched a 27-year-old woman during an argument about 4:30 a.m. in the 1900 block of West Washington Street, and when doing so, hit an 8-month-old child in the head.
Officers observed a knot and bruise on the child’s head and an abrasion and swelling on the woman’s cheek. The child was transported to Springfield Regional Medical Center by medics.
Cross also faces a charge of assault in the case. STAFF REPORT
