Break-in at hospital lands man in jail

Cody B. Johnson, 21, of 1026 Eastgate Road, was placed in Clark County Jail on breaking and entering and drug charges early Monday morning.

Johnson is alleged to have entered a closed coffee shop at Springfield Regional Medical Center and ransacked it, taking candy bars and a digital picture frame, and possessing a prescription medication about 2 a.m. Monday.

He’s also alleged to have fought with hospital security in the store, resulting in being pepper sprayed, and he reportedly attempted to pull away from Springfield police officers and had to be taken to the floor in the emergency room. STAFF REPORT

Man arrested on domestic charge

Carl J. Marano, 27, of 111 Lohnes Ave., was placed in Clark County Jail Saturday on a domestic violence charge.

According to a Springfield police report, he was observed by officers to be punching a 28-year-old man he knows on the back porch of his home about 8 p.m.

Medics treated the victim at the scene for a bloody nose. STAFF REPORT

Woman suspected of robbery

Warrants for robbery and drug charges were requested on a Springfield woman.

According to a Springfield police report, the woman attempted to steal $26 worth of products from Family Dollar on Selma Road about 9:50 p.m. Saturday. She was confronted by employees there, and a scuffle ensued. She’s alleged to have punched one of them in the face.

During the scuffle, one employee removed two coats and a shirt, which were collected as evidence. Police found a hypodermic needle, spoon and unknown pills in the coat. STAFF REPORT

Man jailed on child endangering charge

A man who’s accused of providing alcohol to a 16-year-old boy was jailed on a felony child endangering charge and funishing alcohol to an underage person Saturday night.

Police allege Justin Reed, 28, of 1715 W. North St., gave the boy at least two alcoholic drinks. The felony stemmed from a prior conviction of family violence, according to the report. STAFF REPORT

Thefts

• Three televisions, a game console, a portable game system and a Dream Lite Pillow Pet, valued at $2,710, were reported stolen during the burglary of a home in the 400 block of Indiana Avenue between 10:30 p.m. Saturday and 8:15 a.m. Sunday.

• Two shotguns, an Airsoft gun and a non-functional grenade, valued at more than $940, were reported stolen during the burgalry of a home in the 2600 block of Tecumseh Avenue between 11 a.m. Saturday and about 8 p.m. Sunday.

• Two televisions, a game console, liquor and miscellaneous papers, valued at more than $700, were reported stolen during the burglary of a home in the 300 block of East Liberty Street between 8 a.m. and 10 p.m. Sunday.

• A purse and its contents, valued at more than $580, were reported stolen when a suspect took a shopping cart at Kohls on North Bechtle Avenue about 8 a.m. Saturday.

• Aluminum products, valued at $1,000, were repoted stolen Saturday from Paul Meadows Site Development, 2800 block of Kohl Avenue.

• A laptop computer and speakers, valued at $900, were reported stolen from an apartment in the 200 block of The Post Road about 8 p.m. Saturday. STAFF REPORTS
