Woman jailed on domestic charge

Amber G. Capper, 32, of 1578 Kenwood Ave., was placed in Clark County Jail on a domestic violence charge early Friday morning.

According to a police report, Capper was angry at a 28-year-old man she knows and broke out the windows of another woman’s SUV with a hammer and kneed the man in the groin at her home. STAFF REPORT

2 men report robberies

A 26-year-old Springfield man told police he was robbed at gunpoint at the corner of East Glenwood and South Fountain avenues about 6:30 p.m. Friday.

He said he was walking to the store when a car pulled up behind him. A man exited the passenger’s side and approached him.

The thief is alleged to have pulled out a handgun, and the victim gave him money. The thief got back into the vehicle and it drove away.

In 300 block of Ludlow Avenue, a man told police he was walking home with friends from a nearby bar when a man approached, put a gun to his head and pushed him to the ground about 10:30 p.m. Friday.

The thief dug through the victim’s pockets and took his wallet and cash and the jacket he was wearing. The jacket had a cell phone in it. STAFF REPORT

Walmart employee injured during robbery

A loss prevention officer at Walmart on Bechtle Avenue sustained a scratch on his hand when he struggled with a shoplifting suspect.

Rebecca E. Doss, 35, of 10752 Rosedale Road, Mechanicsburg, was placed in Clark County Jail on a robbery charge, stemming from what police allege was the attempted theft of a power tool kit, dog food and kids toys, valued at more than $200 about 6:45 p.m. Friday. All items were recovered.

She also had an outstanding warrant through the Champaign County Sheriff’s Office, according to the report. STAFF REPORT

Man faces assault charge

Bruce A. Shope, 53, of 440 W. High St., was placed in Clark County Jail on a felonious assault charge early Saturday morning.

Police allege he severely bruised the buttocks of a 42-year-old woman he knows by hitting her with a beer bottle between 3 and 4 a.m. Saturday. STAFF REPORT

Warrants requested on man

Police requested warrants for the arrest of a 34-year-old Springfield man who they allege assaulted a 32-year-old woman he knows and stole two cell phones and a set of car and house keys at her home in the 500 block of Tarimore Drive about 11:20 a.m. Saturday.

According to a police report, the man showed up at her house angry and shoved her onto a sofa, struck her in the face and twisted her arm.

There were five children in the house at the time. Two of them alleged they saw the man choke their mother.

When the woman told one of the children to call the police, the man took both cell phones in the house and the keys and left, according to the report. STAFF REPORT

Woman robbed of wallet

A 48-year-old Springfield woman alleged a female approached her as she loaded groceries into her car and grabbed her wallet and its contents, valued at more than $370, as it was in the seat of her shopping cart Saturday morning.

The incident happened about 11 a.m. in the parking lot of Save-A-Lot, 2105 E. Main St. The thief got into the passenger seat of a car which fled. STAFF REPORT

Thefts

A man who stayed in a woman’s car as she shopped in Springfield reportedly removed $500 from her purse about 7:40 p.m. Friday.

Two computer monitors, cash and keys, valued at $570, were reportedly stolen during a break-in at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1621 S. Belmont Ave., between 3:30 p.m. Thursday and 10 a.m. Friday.

A laptop computer, kids clothing and a pair of shoes, valued at $650, were reported stolen during the burglary of a home in the 200 block of Crossgate Court between noon and 6:30 p.m. Friday. STAFF REPORTS
