Boy reports kidnapping
A 17-year-old Springfield boy called police after he fled from an alleged kidnapper in the 1500 block of Snyder Park Road Thursday night, according to a report.
The boy said he was riding his bicycle in the park about 8 p.m. when a man driving a blue Honda stopped his vehicle behind him and said “I have something for you. Come over here.”
The boy tried to ride away, but his chain reportedly fell off and the man caught up with him. He’s alleged to have punched the boy in the back of the head and pulled him back to the car.
He pushed the suspect away and grabbed the man’s cell phone and a plastic bag containing several items from the car’s seat, which were collected as evidence.
He fled to the area of Commerce Road and North Bechtle Avenue where he called police. The man is described as being age 20-30, 6-foot tall and 200 pounds.
Man arrested on domestic, damaging charges
Matthew A. McGraw, 21, of 812 S. Center St., was placed in Clark County Jail on one count of domestic violence and two counts of criminal damaging following an incident at his address.
Police allege he threatened to hit a 43-year-old woman he knows and damaged a kitchen table and a television at the residence.
Fatal train accident remains under investigation
The Clark County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate a fatal train accident near the 2000 block of Enon Road that resulted in the death of a 17-year-old.
The train engineer and the conductor told deputies the teen was walking westbound in the middle of the tracks with his back to them when he was struck by the train
Deputies have yet to release the name of the teen and did not release any additional information about the incident Saturday.
Thefts
Power tools and copper tubing, valued at $620, were reported stolen in a break-in between 7 a.m. Tuesday and 5 p.m. Thursday at a house that was being remodeled in the 900 block of Pine Street.
