MEDWAY —
Authorities are looking for a bank robber after he allegedly passed a note to a teller demanding cash at the Security National Bank in Medway on Monday morning.
It was just before 10 a.m. when authorities said the man entered the bank at 130 W. Main St., passed a note to the teller and made off with an undisclosed amount of cash. No weapon was displayed, said Lt. Chris Clark with the Clark County Sheriff’s Office.
Barb Stewart, who lives near the bank, said she became suspicious after seeing a late ’90s model Chevrolet white truck with a maroon stripe park at Medway Elementary School behind the bank. A man then exited the vehicle and walked into the bank.
“He was just suspicious. I mean, why park over at the school, leave the lights on and the truck running and walk all the way around the corner nonchalantly into the bank,” Stewart said.
It’s believed a separate suspect drove the truck, meeting the robber behind the bank before fleeing in an unknown direction, Clark said.
The suspect is described as a white man, 20 to 30 years old, weighing about 150 pounds, with a goatee and mustache. He has a heart-shaped tattoo on the right side of his neck. He was wearing a green knit hat, green flannel jacket with a white T-shirt underneath and dark sweatpants with a light blue stripe, Clark said.
This is the third time the Medway bank has been robbed this year. The Clark County Sheriff’s Office reported the same bank was robbed in May and again in August. Clark said he’s not sure why it’s such a hot spot for robberies.
Having lived near the bank for more than 30 years, Stewart said easy access seems to make it a target.
“It’s convenient. You can go any number of ways and either end up in the country to get to a big city or go out to the highway,” she said.
Anyone with information about the suspect or the truck is asked to call the Clark County Sheriff’s Office at (937) 328-2560.
