Drive-thrus robbed at gunpoint

Two drive-thrus were robbed at gunpoint on Friday evening, according to police reports.

Around 5 p.m. Friday, a white male wearing a tan coat pointed a black handgun at a cashier at Sunny’s Drive Thru, 917 N. Belmont Ave., and told him to get on the floor. The cashier opened the cash register and the gunman took an unknown amount of cash. While grabbing the cash, the suspect pointed his gun at a vehicle driving through the business before he fled on foot.

According to reports, a man wearing a tan jacket and a grey cloth mask robbed Poo’s Drive-Thru, 1251 N. Belmont Ave. He pointed a black handgun at the cashier and asked for money. Once he grabbed the money, he fled the business.

Springfield police are investigating both aggravated robberies. STAFF REPORT

• A flatscreen television, valued at $800, was stolen from a residence in the 1000 block of Lagonda Avenue between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. Friday.
