New restaurant opens at the Mall at Fairfield Commons

One of the three new restaurants coming to the Mall at Fairfield Commons opened Friday.

Mall officials confirmed over the weekend that Asian Too, a new restaurant in the mall's food court, opened to the public Sept. 1. The space previously housed Cajun Ming.

Here’s how Asian Too’s web site describes the restaurant chain:

“Luong Moc ‘Louis’ Tran came to the United States as a teenager from Vietnam with nothing more than ambition. Through the years, his talent and desire to succeed allowed him to run several restaurants, and eventually own one for himself. In the late 1980’s Louis became an operating partner in a new concept serving Asian food in food court environments. … Through ambition and hard work this company grew to surpass 50 units throughout the Eastern U.S.”

“In 2004 Louis decided to start fresh and focus on building a new company that would blend his experience, passion and knowledge of food court concepts, while allowing him the creative freedom to explore new opportunities for Asian cuisine. The culmination of these efforts is Asian Too.”

The new Asian restaurant is part of a surge of dining options at the Mall at Fairfield Commons that include the recent openings of Melt Bar & Grilled, FUSIAN, Gyro King and Sbarro Pizza. The mall earlier had added BRAVO Cucina Italiano, BJ’s Restaurant and Brewhouse and Chuy’s Tex Mex.

Two more restaurants are on the way: a first-in-the-market MacKenzie River Pizza Grill Pub has set a projected opening date of Oct. 2 in the building that previously housed Max & Erma's. And Flyboys Deli, which operates a restaurant in Oakwood, is gearing up to open a second location this fall near the Beavercreek mall's front entrance. Flyboys Deli co-founder Steve Crandall told this news outlet this morning that he is shooting for a November opening.

“To meet shopper demand, we continue to evolve to deliver the right combination of retailers, dining, entertainment and events to keep shoppers engaged and returning often,” Kristie Miller, general manager at The Mall at Fairfield Commons, said in June in announcing the Asian Too and Flyboys Deli agreements.

Here’s what Mall at Fairfield Commons officials said about the new Asian restaurant earlier this summer:

“Asian Too is a pan-Asian, fast casual concept serving an expertly prepared cuisine from recipes that span the Asian continent. The menu includes appetizers, rice/noodle platters, entrees as well as fresh made sushi and more. The company currently has six other Asian Too restaurants, spanning from Boston to Texas, and are looking to open even more locations across the Midwest.”
