Thompson said her granddaughter was crying and in a great deal of pain from the burn she received.
KOB tested the playground slide equipment this week with an infrared thermometer and found the slide to be 50 degrees hotter than the air temperature.
Park officials said there are signs posted warning parents and children about how playground equipment can become hot and cause burns, but Thompson said the signs are too small and that she would like to see the playground covered.
Officials recommended wearing proper clothing to reduce the risk of injury on hot playground equipment.
