Ohio man proposes marriage at Bengals game

Being proposed to at an NFL game may not sound like the ideal romantic location to some, but for Ashley Phillabaum, it was at the top of her list.

The special moment came Thursday night at the Cincinnati Bengals game against the Cleveland Browns.

Ashley and her now fiancé, Kyle Conklin, were sitting in row 16, section 228.

At the 2-minute warning in the first half, Kyle took a knee and popped the question.

“It was awesome,” said Phillabaum, a Preble County native, in an interview on Sunday. “There are no words to describe how excited I was.”

I want to thank everyone once again for all the support and all the love for Kyle D. Conklin and I it means a lot to us more than words can explain!

The groom-to-be, who hails from Darke County, had planned the moment and made sure her little brother and stepfather were at the game with them.

Ashley said the event was a surprise, even though she and Kyle had been talking about marriage and when he asked where she would want to be proposed to, a Bengals game was at the top of the list.

“Everyone around us was shouting ‘Who Dey!,’” she said. “They were all very welcoming and proud, except for the Browns fans.”

With 900 likes and counting, the post is getting a lot of attention on the Bengals Country! Bengals Nation! Facebook page.

Some people who were sitting nearby have shared their photos and video of the moment.

Ashley hopes others will do the same, particularly a woman who took a photo a couple of rows below their seats. Ashley said the woman would have had a perfect view of the reaction on her face.
