Derrick S. Long, 29, has been charged with one count each of domestic violence and criminal trespassing. He also had an outstanding warrant for menacing. He’s expected to appear in the Clark County Municipal Court at 10:30 a.m. today.

Police said they were sent to a home in the 300 block of South Burnett Road about a man who was allegedly threatening a woman with a knife at about 1 a.m. on Oct. 16. Officers found Long laying on the living room floor unconscious with a knife in his left hand, according to a police report. The woman told police the man had taken four white pills after arriving at the home at about 1 a.m.

Long and the woman began arguing because he is not allowed to be on the property, according to the police report. He then grabbed a butter knife and told her he was going to slit her throat, the report said. The woman then locked herself in the bedroom until officers arrived.

Long was transported to Springfield Regional Medical Center and later admitted for further treatment, the report said. He was also issued a warrant for domestic violence and criminal trespass.

On Sept. 9, deputies said they were sent to a home in the 2000 block of Sunset Drive where Long had allegedly threatened another man with a switch-blade style knife because the victim had run out of alcohol. Long had also allegedly called the man and left threatening messages, the police report for that incident said.

Long was arrested and placed in the Clark County Jail at about 12:30 a.m. Sunday.
