Clark County population continues to decline, reaches 50-year low

Man accused of chaining woman, putting her in storage container facing 3 new murder charges

Investigators signed seven new warrants Monday against Todd Kohlhepp, a suspected serial killer in South Carolina.

Authorities arrested Kohlhepp earlier this month after investigators searched his property in Woodruff and discovered a woman alive and chained by her neck and ankle in a large storage container, yelling for help.

He is charged with the homicides of Charlie Carver, who was the woman’s boyfriend, and Megan and Johnny Coxie.

Kohlhepp is charged with murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime in Carver’s death.

For the Coxies' case, he is charged with two counts of murder and two counts of possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime. He’s also charged with kidnapping Megan Coxie.

At this stage in the investigation, the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office said it appears that Carver and Johnny Coxie went to Kohlhepp’s property voluntarily, which explains the absence of kidnapping charges involving the two men.

Carver and his girlfriend had disappeared two months before they were found by investigators. The Coxies were reported missing last December.

Deputies said Kohlhepp confessed to killing four other people in Spartanburg County at a motorcycle shop in 2003, leaving behind their bodies. He has been charged with murder in those deaths.
