Fla. man pays off $20K in gifts at Walmart

When Greg Parady went into his local Walmart last Saturday, he was just planning to pick up some bikes for a Toys for Tots drive. Instead, he ended up making Christmas come early for nearly 80 strangers.

“He had heard a lady out in one of the aisles talking about how she needed to pay off her layaway, but she didn't think she was going to be able to take care of all of it this year, so he just walked back here and started in.” (Via WKMG)

The 40-year-old financial planner paid off the layaway accounts of six shoppers at the store — then paid off half of any account over $200.

Altogether, that added up to more than $20,000 worth of charges on 76 accounts.

“One woman told them the gift made it possible for her kids to have Christmas, while others had similar words of thanks.” (Via WESH)

The store assistant manager said one woman began to cry and had to sit down on a bench.

Parady’s business partner told WPTV: “I've known him for years, and he just does things because he feels like doing them. ... This is Greg's way of giving back to the community.”

Parady told NBC he didn’t intend to get so much attention, and he hopes it motivates other people to give in their own way.

For better or for worse, a lot of us have gotten used to selfie face filters in apps such as Snapchat and Facebook Messenger that can add silly extremes to our photos and videos, such as sticking a unicorn horn on our head or turning us into superheroes. But FaceApp, an increasingly popular app that debuted in February for iOS and Android, is...
