Family searching for missing Florida mother after car found running on bridge

A Florida mother is begging for help. She says her daughter, Ashley Brown, has been missing for four days.

Brown's car was found empty but running on Jacksonville's Mathews Bridge on Thursday morning.

“I don’t know if she’s hurt. I don’t know if she is somewhere against her will. I don’t know,” Darlene Green said of Brown, a single mother of an 11-year-old boy and an 8-year-old girl.

Green said her daughter was happy and preparing to graduate from nursing school in March.

“She loves her children, and I know she wouldn’t have left her children," Green said. "I know my daughter didn’t commit suicide. I know she didn’t jump off of that bridge; I know that from my heart."

Green said she doesn't know what could have happened to her daughter.

Green said the family last heard from Brown on Thursday morning. Brown, 29, texted her sister and told her to leave the door unlocked, and that she would be by. But Green said her daughter never came home.

Just before 7 a.m. Thursday, cameras captured what police called a disabled car on the bridge.

Green said her daughter’s car was found on the bridge, empty but still running with the door open.

All Brown's personal items were still in the car, except for her phone, which was found near the back of the car.

“They did a marine search Thursday afternoon, air search Thursday mid-morning, and they found nothing, nothing, no sign of her,” Green said.

News of Brown’s disappearance is circulating on social media. ActionNewsJax.com has received several emails from friends, family, even Brown’s nursing instructor, asking for help finding her.

“I keep looking at her picture and saying, 'Where are you, Ashley? Where are you?'” Green said.

Green said she filed a police report with Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

ActionNewsJax.com reached out to JSO and is waiting for more information on their investigation.

Even the internet is baffled. On Reddit, where there are typically 10 conspiracy theories floated for every fact, only questions surface in a discussion group devoted to the grisly murders of Russell and Shirley Dermond, the elderly Eatonton couple found dead more than three years ago. For every theory, there’s a contradiction that debunks it...
