It's not just humans that are struggling with the polar vortex that is swirling across the US this week.
A dog in Indiana was found frozen to the ground in sub-zero temperatures.
The Sheltie mix named Peanut was found late Monday night after an anonymous caller tipped off sheriff's deputies in Jasper, Ind.
"The dog, its stomach and feet and tail had frozen to feces that was in the pen. They took warm water and poured it over the dog to free it from the floor,” said Stuart Wilson of the Dubois County Sheriff's Office told Evansville, Ind., TV station WFIE.
Rescuers had to pour warm water of the dog to free him from the icy grip.
Peanut and another dog rescued from the home are expected to make a full recovery.
