Military exercise could mean delays at base

Military exercises next week could mean delays at getting on Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, temporary building closures and service interruptions, according to a base statement.

The exercise, set for July 8-11, will mean tightened security as scenarios such as dealing with hazardous materials and a shooting incident test employees skills to respond, according to Wright-Patterson.

Much of the visible activity will occur during daylight hours, the base said in a statement.

“Quarterly exercises provide airmen with training scenarios in which they transition from peacetime to wartime responsibilities,” base spokesman John B. Scaggs said in an email.
