Why you had problems posting on Facebook

Network maintenance is being blamed for global problems posting on Facebook early Monday.

Multiple national media outlets were reporting users were receiving error messages when trying to like, comment or post on Facebook.

Our staffers tested several Facebook accounts here in our newsroom and did experience the same problem. A message popped up stating "an error occurred please try again in a few minutes."

Our staffers tried to "like" and "comment" on several posts multiple times and received the same error message. However, one of our reporters was able to post a comment.

Monday afternoon, a spokesperson for Facebook issued this statement to media:

"Earlier this morning, while performing some network maintenance, we experienced an issue that prevented some users from posting to Facebook for a brief period of time. We resolved the issue quickly, and we are now back to 100 percent. We're sorry for any inconvenience we may have caused."
