Tents are going up at the Greene County Fairgrounds and folks who haven't seen each other since last year's event are catching up.

People from all over the country come to enjoy the more than 330 bike trails that line the river corridors and natural areas of Southwest Ohio.

The fairgrounds in Xenia serve as the base where cyclists will set out on daily rides of up to 100 miles and return at the end of the day to their camps at the fairgrounds.

They'll be watching the weather forecast closely as storms have struck during the four-day event in years past.

Diane Jerichow, of Flushing, Mich., remembers last year a storm struck in the middle of the night. She said some of the tents overturned while people were sleeping inside.

"It felt like we could have been blown away last year," Jerichow said as she and her husband Jim worked to erect their tent under a shady tree. "Hopefully this year is going to be a good year."

Cyclists will set out and explore a different part of the trail network each day. On Friday, the riders will travel down into Warren County on the Little Miami Scenic Bike Trail. On Saturday, cyclists will go north on the same trail into Yellow Springs and Springfield.
