Urbana plans for Santa’s arrival

Residents are encouraged to visit downtown Urbana from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 29, to greet Santa as he arrives for the holiday season. Santa will arrive in the southeast corner of Monument Square by 5 p.m. by horse-drawn trolley.

There will also be treats and warm beverages along with crafts, caroling and visits with Santa until 8 p.m. Santa will return to downtown Urbana each Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. to visit with children and hand out treats. Children are encouraged to leave their letters to Santa in the Santa Land mailbox downtown. A local photographer will be available on Dec. 7 and 14 to take photos of children with Santa for a small fee.

Residents are also encouraged to explore the Monument Square District’s retail shops and visit a local restaurant. For a visitor’s guide, residents can visit www.monumentsquaredistrict.com or look for MSDUrbana on Facebook. STAFF REPORT
