Tuskegee Airmen exhibit, P-51 join air show

A traveling exhibit highlighting the history of the Tuskegee Airmen and a World War II-era Red Tail P-51 Mustang will join the line-up at the Vectren Dayton Air Show.

Rise Above, a 30-seat theater with a panoramic screen, documents the history of the Tuskegee Airmen, the first black military pilots and crew in the U.S. military.

The Commemorative Air Force Red Tail Squadron will fly the P-51 Mustang “By Request” during the June 22-23 air show at the Dayton International Airport. The Tuskegee Airmen flew the propeller-driven fighter plane to escort bombers in Europe during World War II.

The air show will feature 15 acts, including stunt performer Sean D. Tucker, the world’s sole flying B-29 Superfortress “Fifi,” and a first-time appearance of the MiG-17, a Soviet fighter that first flew in the 1950s.

Discounted general admission tickets are on sale at Kroger stores in the Dayton and Cincinnati region. Tickets are $17 for adults and $12 for senior citizens and children.
