TB test shortage not affecting Greene Co. health district

Greene County Combined Health District officials said today it is unaffected by a nationwide shortage of Tuberculosis testing products.

Tubersol and Aplisol are the only U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved products for use in TB skin testing, officials said.

A nationwide shortage of the tests was expected to be resolved in June, however, the Ohio Department of Health and other states have received reports of difficulties obtaining both products, health district officials said Wednesday. The current projection for normal production of Tubersol and Aplisol is unknown.

Officials said in the statement the shortage does not affect TB skin testing at the GCCHD.
