Strong storms knocks out power to thousands

There are still about 3,000 customers without power across the region, with the majority, 2,294 in Butler County.

Warren County has the second highest number of outages with 565, according to the Duke Energy online map.

The Butler County outages are mainly in the Monroe area, and in Warren County there are 385 outages reported in the Clearcreek Twp. area.

Dayton Power & Light reports outages including: 149 in Greene County; 133 in Montgomery County; 57 in Champaign County; 20 in Darke County and seven in Miami County.

There are fewer than five customers without service, Ohio Edison reports.

FIRST REPORT

Strong thunderstorms that moved through this evening have knocked out power to thousands across the region.

The largest number of outages are reported in Butler and Warren counties, with 3,497 in Butler and 2,515 in Warren, according to the Duke Energy online outage report. The utility company is assessing damage so no restoration times were available.

Besides planned outages, Dayton Power & Light is reporting at least 33 as a result of the recent storms, according to its online outage map.

Fewer than five customers are without service in Clark County, Ohio Edison is reporting on its website.
