Springfield police search for suspect in drive-by shooting

UPDATE @ 2:58 a.m.

Two homes, one in the 1800 block and the other in the 1900 block of Edwards Avenue were shot at during a drive-by shooting in Springfield, according to dispatchers.

The Saturday morning shooting happened around 1:40 a.m. when an man driving a dark-colored, small pickup truck fired 3-4 rounds out of a window of the moving truck.

Dispatchers said no one was injured in the shooting and explain police are continuing to search the area for the truck and suspect.

Springfield police are searching an area where a drive-by shooting was reported Saturday morning.

Crews were dispatched to the 1900 block of Edwards Avenue in Springfield around 1:40 a.m. on a report of a shooting.

Initial reports indicate a 9-1-1 caller told dispatchers a man fired 3 to 4 shots at her home while he sat behind the wheel of a pickup truck.

The woman reported the man left moments after firing the shots, according to scanner traffic.

Police are now searching the area for shell casing and have located a round that pierced a window of the home.

Dispatchers and police were not immediately available for comment.
