Clark County families preserve farmland for more than 200 years

Springfield house destroyed by fire

A home at 1205 Gable St. is destroyed after a blaze broke out there this morning.

A caller reported the fire at about 11 a.m. today and crews arrived to find “heavy” fire in the rear of the house, said Battalion Chief Matt Smith. The visible flames were put out in four to five minutes, but crews are searching the interior for possible hidden fires in the attic.

Smith said this is the second time in recent months the department has responded to a fire at this address.

Initial reports indicate the structure is vacant.
