Police: Man tries to jump aboard train in Springfield

UPDATE @ 8:55 p.m.

A man suffered a head injury and was taken to Springfield Regional Medical Center after he apparently tried to jump aboard a moving train, Springfield police said.

The man’s injuries were not life-threatening, and he was alert and talking at the scene, police said.

The incident is under investigation but police said it’s not likely the man would be charged.

A man was injured tonight after he apparently tried to jump aboard a moving train in Springfield.

The man’s injuries are unknown, but he was able to speak to medics, Springfield police said.

The incident was reported around 6:15 p.m. on the railroad tracks at West Main and North Shaffer streets.

The train was being stopped so investigators could speak to the conductor.
