Plows prepped for snow removal; lights added

The Ohio Department of Transportation is working to conduct inspections on snow removal equipment.

ODOT District 7, which covers Auglaize, Champaign, Clark, Darke, Logan, Mercer, Miami, Montgomery and Shelby counties, will do the inspections over the next several weeks.

Green and white lights have been added to most of ODOT's existing snow removal trucks so that drivers may better see them in adverse weather conditions. More than 1,700 plow trucks will be used on Ohio's roadways, according to ODOT, and 3,000 drivers are trained to use them.

ODOT maintains more than 43,000 miles of state highway.
