Background/overview

John and Stephanie Jones owned Penny Lane Publishing Company in Park Layne. Their retail business focused on representing artists’ one-of-a-kind paintings throughout the U.S.A. In early 2012 they opened Penny Lane Art Gallery in downtown New Carlisle to showcase the reasonably priced “ready to hang” artworks they’d accumulated from their many clients.

One day, someone suggested they serve coffee at the gallery, so the owners brought Boston Stoker Coffee onboard to please their visitors. Then, another day, someone suggested they incorporate sandwiches to compliment the coffee, so the owners began making fresh sandwiches onsite to attract even more visitors through “word of mouth.”

By June 2012, the ever-growing list of unique edibles had evolved into a stimulating menu of stylish cafe food; thus, the shop was renamed Penny Lane Art Gallery & Cafe.

The owners’ son Zach Jones purchased the expanded company from his parents so they could retire and settle in Florida. Today, three “shift leads”: Dave Payne, Cassie Roark and Sheryl Conner manage the cafe.

Penny Lane Art Gallery & Cafe proudly serves the freshest products sourced throughout the Miami Valley. The staff says, “New Carlisle is known as a hidden treasure. You don’t have to go to the big city to get good coffee or good food!”
