The second annual service day will be held Friday, April 28. Fifteen area nonprofits need help that day with activities like cleaning, landscaping, teaching and painting this year.
The day will once again be sponsored by Clark State Community College, Community Mercy Health Partners, Community Health Foundation, Leadership Clark County and Catholic Central.
The first service day last year assisted more than 40 nonprofits in the area like the Salvation Army, Interfaith and WellSpring with cleaning, landscaping, organizing and painting projects.

“They came in and did some much-needed weeding. They spread mulch around the building and trimmed the bushes that were getting pretty wild,” said Ryan Ray with the Salvation Army.
Ray said Speedway chose them out of the many other nonprofits that needed help that day.
He said landscaping is the Salvation Army’s biggest need.
“They got a chance to make our grounds look a little more presentable … It’s something that we cannot just keep up on,” Ray said.

The company came to the site with their own tools to make the project a success.
The day is good not only for the nonprofits but the people who are volunteering, Hemphill said.
“Anyone can sign up to volunteer … You can sign up as an individual, as a team or as a company,” she said.
