In 1935, Edgar L. Morris, publisher and general manager, celebrated his 25th anniversary as an executive with the Springfield Daily News (and Sun after the papers merged in 1928).

Morris’ newspaper career spanned nearly 63 years from correspondent to publisher, where he “used his authority as a publisher in a quietly progressive and responsible manner to promote the welfare of the city.
