MADISON TWP. — The Land of Illusion opens Friday, September 2 for its 14th season and features a number of new additions.
One of the new features is the “Field of Screams,” a haunted corn maze that will not be lit up at night making it more difficult to navigate. The field was added over the past year, contracting with a farmer to grow a large cornfield near Thomas and Germantown roads.
“We’ll have people out here to help if you get terribly lost,” Rob Hoffman, a publicist for the theme park said.
Wednesday night was a dress rehearsal for the park, with dozens of ghoulish actors slathering on makeup and costumes for the park.
Familiar attractions, like the 2-mile Haunted Trail have added new scenes, such as two full-size school buses standing on end.
The Club Zombie stage will feature national acts like Jacob Latimore, known for his single “Like Em All.” He will play Friday evening. Other future acts will include Hardnox, seen on MTV’s “Jersey Shore.”
And this is all setting the stage for the Land of Illusion to continue growing.
“Next year we’ll have a different approach so we can do more than put on an eight-week event,” Hoffman said.
