Republicans Jim Jordan and Warren Davidson won easy victories in their respective congressional races Tuesday night according to final, unofficial election results.
Jordan, an incumbent from Urbana, defeated Janet Garret, a Democratic challenger from Oberlin. The sprawling 4th Congressional District stretched from Urbana to the shores of Lake Erie.
Davidson, a businessman from Troy, also easily defeated Democrat David Fought in a race for the 8th Congressional District.
Republicans Jim Jordan and Warren Davidson cruised to victory Tuesday in their respective Congressional races, according to final, unofficial results Tuesday.
Jordan an incumbent Republican from Urbana, easily defeated Democrat Janet Garrett to retain his seat in Ohio's sprawling 4th Congressional District. Davidson, a Troy Republican, also defeated Democrat Steven Fought in the 8th Congressional District.
“It’s a great honor to serve as the 4th District’s voice in Congress, and I am humbled by the voters’ support to represent them for another term,” Jordan said Tuesday. “I am committed to working hard and ending ‘business as usual’ in Washington so we can begin tackling the big issues facing our country.”
Jordan won after pushing for issues such as repealing the Affordable Care Act and securing the U.S. border. In the weeks leading up to the election, he argued many voters in the district are concerned that those with political connections receive special treatment that is not afforded to average residents.
Davidson, a Troy businessman whose district includes Clark County, will occupy a seat previously held by former U.S. House Speaker John Boehner.
“We’re at a crossroads as a country,” Davidson said. “I think the public has really expressed a sense of frustration with the lack of results out of the political status quo … I’m excited to get in there and get the work done that I’ve been talking to the people about.”
