Fifth Third Bank names new city executive

Doug Compton has been named Fifth Third Bank's new Dayton city executive, the bank's top leader in the market that includes Springfield.

The change is effective now.

The position makes him one of region's top business people, overseeing commercial lending and retail branch operations of Dayton's largest bank.

Steve Petitjean, city executive from 2011 to now, said he's voluntarily relinquishing the role to focus on his responsibilities as Fifth Third's Dayton market retail leader.

"We're in the community, committed to the community," Compton said.

Cincinnati-based Fifth Third Bancorp is the largest bank by $2.6 billion in deposits held in the Dayton metropolitan area, or 25.4 percent market share, according to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp.
