FAA investigating deadly plane crash in Southeast Ohio

Two people were killed in a small plane crash Saturday morning in Southeastern Ohio, according to multiple media reports.

The private plane crashed into a retention pond near Beverly, Ohio and the remains of an unidentified man and woman were recovered, according to the report from the Columbus Dispatch.

A dive team continued to search today at the pond, which is located near a former American Electric Power facility, Sgt. Garick Warner of the Ohio State Highway Patrol Marietta Post told the Dispatch.

The aircraft is believed to be one reported missing that took off from Indianapolis on its way to Parkersburg, W.Va., according to the Dispatch.

The wreckage was not found until Saturday afternoon, but according to the West Virginia Wing Civil Air Patrol, the plane lost contact with radar at about 9:45 a.m., according to the Dispatch.

The victims have not been identified. The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating.
