Duplex fire displaces both families


Two families are displaced after a duplex fire in the 200 block of Orth Drive in New Carlisle.

Officials haven't determined what the started the blaze but the left side apartment of a duplex was destroyed.

Preliminary information from the New Carlisle Fire Department Assistant Chief Rick Ritter stated the fire ignited in the garage. Ritter did not have an estimate on how much damage was done.

No one was injured in the fire but one neighbor said they heard explosions inside the burning structure. it was reported residents apparently had two motorcycles inside the garage during the fire.

Ritter said the displaced families have options for shelter.

The fire is under investigation.
