Dayton federal offices close because of heat

Air conditioning is not working inside the federal building in downtown Dayton.

According to workers inside, temperatures have exceeded 86 degrees, creating uncomfortable conditions. An automated message on the U.S. Social Security Office phone confirms the Dayton office will be closed until 9 a.m. Tuesday.

Employees of the building’s federal courts said business will continue as scheduled. Officials said the heat issues could continue throughout the entire week.
