Champaign County plans flu clinics

Urbana

Health District offering flu shots

The Champaign Health District will begin flu clinics from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Mondays and Fridays beginning on Sept. 30. No appointment is necessary.

Shots will be administered in the arm, and residents are asked to dress accordingly to allow the shots to be given easily. Residents six months and older are encouraged to get the vaccine. It is important for people at risk of severe influenza and their close contacts, including healthcare personnel and close contacts of children younger than six months.

Most influenza occurs from October through May, but in recent seasons most infections have occurred in January and February. Protections last about one year.

The cost is $20 for adults. Shots are $8 for shots or mist for children from six months to 18 years old. Many forms of insurance are accepted, as well as cash, checks, or Medicaid. For more information, residents can call 937-484-1605. STAFF REPORT
