Springfield base would get $7.2M for construction in Obama budget

The Air National Guard Base at Springfield-Beckley Municipal Airport would be among those to gain from the budget released Thursday by President Obama.

According to budget documents released by the Obama administration, the budget calls for $7.2 million toward construction of an intelligence operations facility at the base.

The only other Ohio base to gain under the military construction budget would be the Army National Guard base in Ravenna in northeast Ohio, which would receive $5.2 million for a sanitary sewer.

Congress must approve the proposal, however, before the base would receive the money.
